Guidelines to Determining Placement

in Swim Groups

updated 9/7/09

  1. When recommending swim groups for returning swimmers, the coaches’ sole intent is to place them into the swim group where they will get the most out of their swimming experience. Our goal is the pursuit of swimming excellence.

  2. These are guidelines, not steadfast rules. Even though your child may meet the minimum requirements for a specific group, this does not automatically entitle a swimmer entry into that group. All swim groups are by coaches’ recommendation and placement.

  3. Other factors that coaches consider when placing swimmers may include but are not limited to the following:
    - physical, emotional, and social development maturity.
    - time of the season with respect to the swimming calendar
    - psychological needs of the swimmer
    - swim group cohesiveness

If parents or swimmers have questions or concerns about their placement they should contact Head Coach George Massey and set up a meeting to discuss the issue.
